FAQs
Do I need special clothes for the treatment? Will I be expected to get fully undressed?
If we are working on the table, you are encouraged to undress to your comfort level. Clients will begin the session under the drapes, and each body part that is worked will be undraped and re-draped when the work is finished, and we move on to another region. The purpose of the drapes is to preserve client modesty and comfort for the duration of the treatment. If we are working on the floor, clients will be asked to stay fully dressed and consider bringing additional layers. When the body relaxes, the core temperature drops slightly, and it’s important to stay warm.
How long can I expect the entire session to take?
It is important to me that clients receive the full amount of time that is purchased. When I am providing a mobile session, I will arrive at the client’s home at the scheduled time, and while I am setting up the equipment, I will conduct an interview, and we will collaborate on a treatment plan and agree on what the session will look like. This process will take between 10–15 minutes, and I will step out of the room to wash my hands and allow the client to get on the table with privacy. The timer will start as soon as I put my hands on the client. Please allow for another 10–15 minutes at the end of the treatment to break down, clean up, and discuss feedback and the treatment plan moving forward.
Will I be able to fall asleep or will I experience some pain and discomfort during the session? Will I be sore the next day?
Each session is customized to the client’s particular needs and wants. If you want to relax, we can have lighter pressure and less discussion, and healing will still happen. If you want to problem-solve and have a more active participation in your session, we will go as deep as your body and mind permit. In these cases, there may be some moments of discomfort, but never outright pain. Communication during these types of sessions is always encouraged. Consider these types of treatments to be a form of tissue restructuring, similar to exercise. Not every workout leaves you sore the next day, but sometimes it does, and this is not a bad thing. When there is soreness, take care to stay hydrated and keep gentle movements throughout the day. Movement is medicine, always.
Where will I receive these services?
Unless I have signed a corporate contract where the room is included on the job site, I will be bringing all the necessary tools and equipment to your own home. The reason for this logistic is that people tend to feel the safest in their own space. This is where the most organic type of healing can take place and where we can assess, together, what types of tools and resources are available to them in their own home for progress in between sessions. In the event that a client is not comfortable receiving treatment in their own home, we have the option to rent a space in an area that is convenient for the client. If this is the case, clients can expect to pay a slightly higher price to offset the fee for space rental.
